Tandavam fundraiser bharatnatyam, nrityanjali salangai arts eye camp

Tandavam Events is supporting the eye camp for this year eye at Rishikesh for senior citizens. This is a joint venture by Lotus College of Optomtery and NGO Health First. This will be the second eye camp they will be doing after a phenomenal success with their earlier one. This will not just be a preventive effort but to perform cataract/IOL surgeries on the senior citizens at the Swami Sukhadevanand Charitable Hospital so they can see better. The gift of vision, so to speak.
Dr. Prema Chande is a dear childhood friend and runs the Lotus College of Optometry in Mumbai for the past 20 years. She has spearheaded plenty such efforts within the larger community and is a well known Optometrist in India.

The Swami Shukdevanand Charitable Hospital is located within the Ashram and the eye camp will be conducted on location. ” These camps include everything from surgical eye camps (in which hundreds of patients receive free cataract operations with the latest phaco technique and modern lenses) …”

Mrs. Shanthi Ashok of Nrityanjali and Mrs. Akila Subrahmanyam of Salangai Arts are well established, strong Bharatnatyam teachers in Nothern VA. They have both agreed to be a part of this fundraiser and we are grateful for the support. They will be showcasing their best dances with their best dancers and we are excited to be able to bring that to you.

We also have a guest performance by Sophia Salingaros , a young and accomplished dancer from San Antonio, TX. Sophia studied Bharatanatyam with Guru Dr. Sreedhara Akkihebbalu from the age of nine.
